  1. I started an application for a job, but I'm having trouble logging in/finding it

If you started applying for a job before the 6th March 2019, then you would have accessed our old recruitment site. The University of Kent has moved to a new recruitment system on the 6th March 2019. The closing dates of any vacancies that were "live" on the old website would have now passed.

  2. Why do I have to fill in an application form?

All applicants are required to apply for vacancies by completing an online application form, this form will vary depending on the nature and level of the role being recruited to.

Once you have submitted an online application to the University, the information you have input will then be available for you to use for any future applications.

  3. Can you send me a paper application pack?

All applications must be made online, on our user friendly system.  If however you have specific requirements related to a disability please contact jobs@kent.ac.uk .

  4. I am applying for more than one job, do I need to fill out a separate application form?

For every post advertised you must ensure that you complete a separate online application form. You cannot use one online application form to apply for more than one job. Information related to personal details, eduction/training and referees will be saved for you to resubmit or amend to suit subsequent applications.

  5. What is the Equal Opportunities Form used for?

The University of Kent is an equal opportunity employer. It is our intention to ensure that job applicants and staff are treated solely on the basis of their merits, abilities and potential, regardless of gender, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, age, socio-economic background, disability, religious or political beliefs, trade union membership, family circumstances, sexual orientation or other irrelevant distinction.

The information gathered on the form is used to assist us in monitoring the effectiveness of our policy and will not be taken into consideration for short-listing and interviewing purposes. In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), the University will seek your explicit permission should it intend to process any sensitive personal data for any reason other than Equal Opportunity purposes or exercising a legal right or obligation required by law. Sensitive data includes your racial or ethnic origin, sexual life, political beliefs, trade union membership, religious beliefs, physical or mental health and criminal offences.

  6. Can I still apply after the closing date?

Unfortunately, we do not accept applications after the closing date.

  7. How do I know if you have received my application?

Once we receive your application online we will send you an email to confirm receipt.

  8. I have made some mistakes on my application form - how can I correct them?

Unfortunately, once you have submitted your application form online you cannot change your details.

  9. How long will I have to wait to find out if my application is successful?

It is difficult to give a definite timescale for reviewing applications as it may vary depending on the type of role that you are applying for. We will endeavour to advise you as soon as possible.

  10. How do I get feedback on my application if I am unsuccessful?

Due to the high number of applications we received we can only give feedback to interviewed candidates.

  11. I have been invited for an interview but am unable to attend on the given date. Can I request an alternative date?

We try to advertise interview dates with the vacancy details so that applicants are aware in advance. Due to the arrangements that have to be made to convene an interview panel and venue, it is not usually possible to re-arrange dates. However, on occasion panels are able to offer alternative dates, so please contact us, giving details of your circumstances, to enquire.
