Are you an ambitious researcher with expertise in simulation modelling? Join us at Kent Business School as a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA), part of the Centre for Advanced Diagnostics Development and Application (CADDA), funded by UKRI’s Research England development fund.
You will lead simulation studies assessing the impact of new diagnostic technologies on healthcare organisations. Working closely with Professor Kathy Kotiadis, you’ll engage with diagnostic companies, clinicians, and other stakeholders to develop models that support real-world decision-making.
As a Research Associate you can expect to be involved in:
- Developing simulation models to evaluate new diagnostic technologies
- Identifying sources of existing data and initiate new data collection activities to address any data gaps
- Disseminating findings through peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and social media
- Contributing to grant applications and research proposals
What will you bring to the role?
- A PhD in Operational Research, Management Science, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience with discrete event simulation modelling and relevant software
- Programming skills (e.g., Python)
- A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
As part of the application, alongside a CV and cover letter (which evidences the essential criteria), you are required to submit a two-page “Research Interests & Plan” statement, outlining one or more potential ideas for projects you would like to work on which align with the mission of the Centre for Advanced Diagnostic Development and Application. This two pager should include a list of references.
Please note you will be expected to travel to different diagnostic company sites in England as the centre has a National remit. Given the nature of the role there is some scope for remote working and so working arrangements will be explored at interview.
As a member of our team, you can expect a friendly, open and collaborative working environment and support in your development and wellbeing. You'll enjoy a range of great staff benefits including:
- 43 days' leave per year (personal leave, bank holidays and additional days allocated for the Christmas period, pro rata for part-time staff)
- Excellent pension scheme with generous employer contributions
- Corporate employee-funded healthcare plan, in partnership with Benenden Health
