The Kent and Medway Progression Federation (KMPF) are looking for an experienced and committed Development Manager to provide operational support, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the Partnership’s offer to schools across Kent and Medway.

The project is initially funded for one year as a continuation of a national collaborative project funded by the Office for Students (OfS) to ensure that significantly more young people from the most disadvantaged backgrounds in Kent and Medway progress to study at the level of higher education (HE). The University of Kent is lead institution for the Uni Connect programme, but works in close collaboration with Canterbury Christ Church University, which also holds collaborative funds relating to the KMPF, of which Uni Connect is the major funded constituent.

The successful candidate will work very closely with a range of agencies, internal and external staff and students, to ensure that the programme is effective and able to adapt in response to analysis from ongoing monitoring and evaluation. They will ensure that the Hub is able to represent the outreach provision offered by all KMPF Uni Connect partners and will therefore require considerable skills in building and sustaining relationships and appreciating the differing demands faced by our constituent partners. The postholder is responsible for the line management of the KMPF Uni Connect Hub Schools Officer, with whom they will work closely.

As Development Manager you will:

  • review the Hub strategy for collaborative schools’ provision so that it remains coherent with HEI partners’ outreach policies and with participating school improvement plans so that the KMPF Uni Connect outreach strategy is clear
  • prepare and deliver reports and emerging research findings to the KMPF Uni Connect Board, other local groups and national conferences with a view to engaging with and influencing ongoing local and national conversations on strategy
  • contribute to the effective monitoring and evaluation of Hub collaborative outreach ensuring consistent data collection and analysis so that we continue to build a strong evidence base for our work

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • a BA Honours degree or equivalent
  • teaching or training qualification (including assessor’s awards) or equivalent experience
  • demonstrable experience of successful development and management of programmes in diverse partnership-based contexts
  • experience of working with schools and with young people, especially those from under-represented social groups from low-income backgrounds

The Partnership Development Office is responsible for supporting the implementation of the University’s widening participation strategy and for developing partnerships in the region, with a particular focus on sub-regional partnerships, in support of this strategy. The Partnership Development Office is part of the Marketing, Outreach, Recruitment and Admissions Division (MORA).   Please note that the role may be located in any one of the KMPF partner offices.
