            <p><strong><em>If you are a fast learner with excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, can demonstrate exceptional customer service, and are able to manage multiple responsibilities at once, this temporary, exciting and rewarding role could be ideal for you.</em></strong></p><p data-pasted="true">The University of Kent&rsquo;s Accommodation Office is currently recruiting Timesheet Clerical Assistants to support the Accommodation call centre during the UCAS Clearing process in August 2026.</p><p>These temporary roles are critical to the success of the Accommodation department and wider University, providing applicants with information and guidance on campus accommodation, answering questions and referring complex queries to senior colleagues.</p><p>Successful applicants will be flexible, confident dealing with customers on the phone, able to demonstrate exceptional levels of customer service, computing skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure, both alone and as part of a team.</p><p>You will be working as part of a team on shift pattern of up to 35 hours per week, including early mornings, evenings and weekends. Hours will vary from week to week and are not guaranteed.</p><p>The Accommodation call centre will run from 13/08/2026 &ndash; 28/08/2026. If after this date the call centre continues receiving a high volume of calls, it will continue to operate with a reduced number of staff until 04/09/2026.</p><p><strong>You will need to be able to complete a 2-day intensive mandatory training course, taking place on 7 and 12 August 2026, from 9am &ndash; 5pm. &nbsp;It will not be possible to offer training on any other days.</strong></p><p><strong>As a Clerical Assistant following full training you will:</strong></p><ul><li>Provide exceptional levels of customer service and work calmly and accurately, both alone and as part of a team.</li><li>Confidently handle inbound telephone enquiries, advising current and prospective students and their guardians about campus accommodation and other services and facilities.</li><li>Assist with individual users&rsquo; log in issues.</li><li>Record room move requests and make outbound calls to follow up on these requests.</li><li>Assist with administering room swaps and room changes.</li><li>Adhere to Data Protection Act 2018 (GDPR).</li><li>Complete any other duties that would reasonably fall within the scope of this role, as instructed by the call centre supervisor.</li></ul><p>Rate of pay: NLW &pound;14.56</p><p data-pasted="true">There are a limited number of vacancies, and the advert may close early if a high number of applications are received.</p><p>All applicants will be scored against their answers and shortlisted for interviews, which will take place in person during the first two weeks of June 2026. &nbsp;</p><p>If you have any queries regarding this role or the application process then please contact: Angela Forsyth <a data-fr-linked="true" href="mailto:A.J.Forsyth@kent.ac.uk" data-pasted="true">A.J.Forsyth@kent.ac.uk</a></p><p><br></p>

This will include contacting students who have not accepted their accommodation agreement, as well as those who have withdrawn from or intermitted their studies.</li><li>Delivering exceptional customer service to students, parents, and staff, ensuring both written and verbal communications are professional, accurate, and, where applicable, compliant with relevant policies.</li><li>Maintaining a good knowledge of our accommodation types to provide clear guidance to students and ensure different categories of students are allocated to the appropriate type of accommodation.</li><li>Having knowledge of the Equality Act and proactively supporting University policies relating to disability and diversity, so that current and prospective students feel fully supported by the University.</li><li>Assisting with accommodation viewings during University Open Days.</li><li>Assisting with the administration of individual room allocations, paying careful attention to students&rsquo; specific requests for particular accommodation types, including Lifestyle Moderate Living and Show Flats, etc.&nbsp;</li></ul><p>You will work as part of a busy Accommodation team, responding to email and telephone enquiries, and supporting the Accommodation Office and its call centre during the UCAS Clearing process in August 2026.</p><p>Three full-time roles are available from 1 June 2026 until 31 October 2026; applicants must be able to work until 31 October 2026.&nbsp;</p><p>You will be required to work up to 35 hours per week, from 9am to 5pm. &nbsp;These will usually be completed Monday to Friday, though there will be occasions in July, August and October when you will be required to work weekends. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>You will receive full training to ensure that you are confident with all procedures, policies and software systems.</p><p>If you believe you have the skills, experience and availability we are looking for, we would welcome your application.</p><p>Rate of pay &pound;14.90 per hour</p><p>If you have any queries regarding this role or the application process then please contact: Angela Forsyth <a data-fr-linked="true" href="mailto:A.J.Forsyth@kent.ac.uk" data-pasted="true">A.J.Forsyth@kent.ac.uk</a>&nbsp;</p><p><br></p>

Clearing is an opportunity for undergraduate applicants to apply to places at the university once they have received their results.
