The School of Computing, a welcoming and diverse environment, recognised with a Bronze Athena SWAN award is seeking to appoint a Lecturer, based in the Data Science research group at our Medway campus.
We are seeking a dedicated individual for an ongoing and full time position within the School, who can help us to build on the success of the last REF exercise when we were ranked in the top quartile of 89 Computing departments across the country, coming 12th by Research Intensity!
We are seeking applications from exceptional candidates in any research area that can complement or enhance the Data Science groupís existing research strengths in computer science, particularly in areas related to data science, large-scale distributed processing, machine learning, mobile health, or speech and natural language processing.
As Lecturer in Computing you will:
- undertake teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including the development of new modules and providing support for student learning
- develop and extend your existing successful research career of an international calibre, securing appropriate external funding
- collaborate with colleagues in the School on course development, delivery and assessment, taking on appropriate management and administrative responsibilities
To succeed in this role you will have:
- a PhD in a relevant discipline or similar professional experience or equivalent, and a first degree or equivalent
- advanced, up-to-date knowledge of computer science and its applications
- the ability to develop an independent research programme

The Medway campus is home to the BSc Computing, Business Information Technology and Computer Science for Health undergraduate programmes, as well as PhD degree programmes. We plan to deliver Masterís programmes from September 2019. Medway is a vibrant and modern campus just over half an hour from London by train, located in one of the most historic areas in the country. Medway provides outstanding research, teaching, learning and leisure opportunities for 3000 students under a unique co-location concept shared by three universities.
