Kent Business School (KBS) is seeking to appoint a Professor of Finance to support its continued growth in both size and calibre. We welcome applications from senior academics with a proven and sustained track record of publications in world-leading rated journals as well as experience in leading externally funded research programmes and/or centres. We are looking to appoint a top-class academic who can offer leadership in their research area. 

Candidates who can demonstrate industry and policy impact of their work are particularly welcome. The post holder will play a central role in meeting the School’s aspiration to become internationally recognised for its work in sustainability-driven innovation through leadership in research and education as well as leveraging their collaborative networks. They will be keen to contribute to School life, enjoy working in teams and across disciplines, mentor junior colleagues, and supervise research students.

Finance is one of our growing and most dynamic subjects. The post holder will play a leading role in driving the successful development of the subject and contribute to the leadership of the area.

As Professor of Finance you will:

  • Provide academic leadership in the design and delivery of innovative and high-quality teaching programmes
  • Undertake research, independently and collaboratively, and provide research leadership to more junior academic colleagues within the group and the School as required
  • Prepare articles of world-leading and internationally excellent quality for submission to refereed academic journals and grant applications 
  • Engage in or lead efforts to attract contract research and/or consultancy funding

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Doctorate in Finance or Economics (or equivalent)
  • Specialism in Financial Econometrics and Forecasting or Financial Stability
  • Teaching skills appropriate to higher education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Evidence of a strong track record of successful publication in 3* and 4* rated journals in the Finance stream of CABS
  • Ability to supervise research activities of undergraduate and postgraduate students effectively, including doctoral students
