The Student Systems Development - KentVision Team is seeking an enthusiastic person to join their diversely skilled team at the University of Kent. We are particularly interested if you are a problem solver, with strong learning agility, who is looking for a role that offers both technical challenges and input from requirements gathering, to design and development.

As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to become a subject matter expert in certain business areas and systems, as well as benefit from industry training opportunities. The role involves a mix of project based work, defect management, developing product enhancements and providing support to key student lifecycle systems and stakeholders. 

As a University, we are currently transitioning from an in-house legacy based student data system to a Tribal SITS and e:vision Student Management System. This role is well suited to you if you have worked with off-the-shelf products, relational database systems, architecture and products (especially MSSQL), experience as in web based languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery) and  experience in the Tribal SITS toolsets (Tasking, vistas, SRL) and associated entity configuration.

As Analyst Programmer you will:

  • Develop, maintain and provide support for student lifecycle systems to ensure reliable and accurate services are available
  • Liaise with Business Analysts within the team as well as key stakeholders within the business to understand their requirements and accommodate changing and emerging requirements throughout the duration of a development project. 
  • Participate in the planning of future services, undertaking research and providing advice on strategies and solutions, considering both functionality and security of delivered services

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Education to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Experience with software development and implementation lifecycle
  • Knowledge of web programming, workflow logic concepts and HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Good working knowledge of relational database  systems, architecture and products, especially MSSQL
