The Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) is looking for two customer-focused individuals to join our team which is currently based at Augustine House in Canterbury. As the first point of contact, you will be instrumental in creating a great impression of KMMS and providing a professional and efficient service to our visitors, students and staff.

Confident in your ability to respond to customer requests, but also to work proactively and on your own initiative, you will deal with a wide range of enquiries and tasks, all the time projecting a welcoming and positive manner.

As Administrative Assistant/ Receptionist you will:

  • Welcome visitors, answer telephone calls and respond to emails, dealing with queries where possible and referring on where necessary
  • Carry out varied clerical duties to facilitate the smooth-running of the School, including dealing with post, taking in student coursework and using University systems as appropriate
  • Assist with diary management and arranging/servicing meetings and events
  • Undertake ordering, procurement and financial processing tasks
  • Be responsible for duties relating to preparing rooms for use once the School opens

As KMMS evolves, so will the role.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • GCSE level English and Maths or equivalent or other means of demonstrating a competent level of literacy and numeracy
  • Strong customer service experience as well as experience of dealing with difficult or complicated queries
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good IT skills
  • Adaptability and readiness for the challenge of starting a Medical School from scratch

Our vision for KMMS is to create a new medical school for Kent and Medway that becomes a beacon for first-class medical education and research. The School will attract the most talented aspiring doctors from within the local community and beyond, offering training and development opportunities that will help to keep that talent in Kent and Medway. Lead by its Founding Dean, Professor Chris Holland, the School will open in September 2020, offering 100 undergraduate medical places on a yearly basis.
