Do you have a passion for sport and physical activity? Kent Sport is looking for a Sports Development Officer to assist the Sports Development Team in delivering a comprehensive and diverse sport and physical activity programme. The role will contribute positively to the department’s overarching objective of engaging all students in physical activity by 2025.

This will be achieved through engaging students in a varied active participation programme of activities throughout the year targeting both sport enthusiasts as well as beginners whilst welcoming the non-active in inclusive activities.  

In addition to facilitating student and staff provision this role will support events aimed at engaging the local community in physical activity and wellbeing. In particular the Sports Development team facilitate children’s sports vacation camps throughout the year.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A sports related or sports coaching qualification
  • Experience of engaging individuals in physical activity and sport whilst co-ordinating and leading activity sessions for all levels
  • Experience of working with children and/or engaging children in physical activity and sport
  • A flexible approach to work, including shift and weekend hours to support operational delivery.

 Kent Sport has grown significantly as a department in recent years both in terms of its staffing structure, but also the facilities and services available to its members.  The department provides facilities and a diverse health, fitness & sporting programme to nearly 20,000 students, 3,000 staff and the community as a whole across our campuses.  It is a sporting hub for the county. 

 The responsibilities of Kent Sport are many and varied from playing a vital strategic role within the University to building strong relationships with National Governing Bodies, County & local councils as well as local sports clubs and organisations.
