Do you have the experience and know-how to develop online learning systems for the new Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS)? Are you used to providing excellent support to users, drawing upon your IT skills to trouble-shoot and problem-solve efficiently and independently?  If the answer is yes and you are excited by the opportunity to support the success of this new venture by helping to build the virtual learning environment from scratch, we would like to hear from you.

The role will see you working with a range of web-based systems, audio-visual and specialist medical equipment, developing and implementing learning and teaching technology models and supporting users across both University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University campuses. You will need to have a good balance of IT/learning technology skills and communication and influencing skills to engage staff across the two universities.

As Learning Technology and Technical Support Officer you will:

  • help to build the KMMS virtual learning environment, creating and maintaining interactive digital content 
  • provide specialist technical support to staff, students and visitors to enable the effective delivery of teaching, research and innovation activities
  • create technical, support and developmental documentation and resources for staff 
  • report on the use of learning technologies to inform strategic decision making 

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • experience of supporting the use of a Virtual Learning Environment
  • experience of developing online interactive educational content
  • good level of technical expertise  
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • excellent time management skills and the ability to organise work effectively

Our vision for the Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) is to create a new medical school for Kent and Medway that becomes a beacon for first-class medical education and research. The School will attract the most talented aspiring doctors from within the local community and beyond, offering training and development opportunities that will help to keep that talent in Kent and Medway. Lead by its Founding Dean, Professor Chris Holland, the School will open in September 2020, offering 100 undergraduate medical places on a yearly basis.
