Through LASE we aim to deliver outstanding education, impactful research, and meaningful regional and global impact.</em></p><p data-pasted="true"><strong>Do you have the expertise to inspire students and advance research in Mechanical Engineering? If so this 12 month role, (starting in September 2026), could be ideal.</strong></p><p>We&rsquo;re looking for a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering to join the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics. You&rsquo;ll contribute to high-quality, research-led teaching across Mechanical Engineering and related programmes, with a focus on Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer, while developing research that supports the University&rsquo;s internationally recognised research and innovation portfolio.</p><p>The School offers a welcoming and inclusive environment, recognised with a Silver Athena SWAN award. Teaching is strongly connected to research and includes substantial practical and laboratory-based learning, helping students develop the knowledge and skills needed for their future careers.</p><p><strong>As Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering you can expect to be involved in:</strong></p><ul><li>Delivering and developing undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Mechanical Engineering</li><li>Contributing specialist expertise in Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer</li><li>Undertaking independent research and producing high-quality research outputs</li><li>Supporting student learning through assessment, feedback, supervision and pastoral support</li></ul><p><strong>What will you bring to the role?</strong></p><ul><li>A PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience or qualification</li><li>An emerging record of internationally excellent research in Fluid Mechanics or Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer</li><li>Experience developing and delivering teaching and assessment in Engineering</li><li>Strong communication skills and the ability to support high-quality student learning</li></ul><p style="margin-left:.5pt;" data-pasted="true"><strong>What we can offer in return:</strong></p><p style="margin-left:.5pt;">As a member of our team, you can expect a friendly, open and collaborative working environment and support in your development and wellbeing. Through LASE we aim to deliver outstanding education, impactful research, and meaningful regional and global impact.</em></p><p data-pasted="true"><strong>Are you interested in applying software engineering skills to modernise internationally used scientific software for computational physics?</strong></p><p>We&rsquo;re looking for a motivated Research Associate with strong software engineering skills and an interest in computational physics, condensed matter physics or high-performance scientific computing. You&#39;ll collaborate with leading developers from the DiagHam and ALPS projects, alongside international research software engineering experts, helping to modernise sustainable scientific software used worldwide for simulations of strongly correlated quantum systems.</p><p>Working on the Software Sustainability Institute-funded DiagHam&ndash;ALPS project, you&rsquo;ll help modernise the DiagHam software ecosystem through improved software infrastructure, automated testing, continuous integration, packaging, documentation and support for deployment in high-performance computing environments.
