Are you interested in biological research with the ability to contribute to research-led teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels? Are you committed to excellence in research? If so, this exciting opportunity may be ideal.
A Research Associate position is available in the School of Biosciences at the University of Kent. We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious researcher to join the Kent Fungal Group/Buscaino laboratory.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a project funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, “Engineering Biology Hub for Microbial Food.”
As Research Associate you can expect to be involved in:
- Undertaking research at an internationally competitive level.
- Designing and executing the necessary experiments maintaining an up to date log of the research activity undertaken and of the obtained results
- Assisting in the supervision of undergraduates and postgraduate student research projects
What will you bring to the role?
- PhD in Microbiology/Genetics or related relevant discipline (or to be in the final stages of obtaining such a qualification)
- Experience in Yeast/Fungal Genetics
- Experience in CRISPR-Cas9 Genome Editing
- Ability to carry out research independently
