Senior Lecturer and Head of Assessment

As Head of Assessment you will have day to day oversight for all formative and summative assessments for the undergraduate medical and the Masters in Clinical Education programmes. 

You will lead a team of academics and professional services staff to design deliver and develop clinical exams (including the Medical Licencing Assessment Clinical and Professional Skills Assessment), written knowledge papers (including the MLA Applied Knowledge Test) and have oversight of the electronic portfolio. You will also have strategic oversight of academic support within our programmes to ensure students are well prepared for their assessments. 

You will also work in close collaboration with the teaching and learning for all UG and PGT programmes to ensure constructive alignment of assessments. You will report directly to the Dean of Education and will work closely with Deputy Dean of Medical Education, PGT course leads and the Senior Faculty Leadership team. 

We are seeking an inspirational medical-educator to lead all aspects of assessment at KMMS.

You will be involved in:

  • Providing strategic leadership of assessment across our programmes.
  • Ensuring assessments are valid, fair, inclusive, and GMC-compliant.
  • Leading our assessment committees and quality assurance processes.
  • Supporting students to succeed, combining rigour with pastoral sensitivity.
  • Driving innovation, including digital tools and psychometric analysis.
  • Contributing to teaching, research, and the wider life of KMMS.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • A primary degree or equivalent in a subject related to the undergraduate medical programme at KMMS 
  • Significant experience leading assessment in medical or healthcare education.
  • A track record of teaching excellence and academic leadership.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

A doctorate, HEA/AoME Fellowship, or national profile in assessment would be an advantage.
