We have an exciting opportunity for a Basic Plumber to join the University’s Commercial Services and Estates Maintenance department on a full time and ongoing basis.
You will provide reactive maintenance and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) service to all stakeholders at the University for plumbing work and ensure compliance with SLA s, statutory legislation and regulatory requirements.
What will help you make a difference?
You will be working in team with responsible for the quality of all specific works you have undertaken, and the day-to-day planning and prioritising of your own workload, so you will need the ability to make independent decisions where appropriate based on trade, specialist knowledge and experiences. You will perform plumbing maintenance on an evening shift basis, (12-8pm) on a wide range of university multipurpose buildings, which are used for student, staff and visitors so you will need to show flexibility regarding your working hours.

What we are looking for in the right candidate:
- Registered Apprenticeship in plumbing or significant demonstrable experience to an equivalent level
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 in plumbing
- Proven experience working as a plumber in a maintenance and team environment.
- Ability to accurately record information electronically using basic IT skills and in writing.
- A willingness to work flexibly to do training and learn new skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.

Estates are responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the infrastructure, buildings and extensive grounds at Kent. The department also has responsibility for the security of students, staff and visitors, transport, parking and travel; customer and postal services and the Design & Print Centre
