As Facilities Assistant, you will play a key role in providing removal, delivery and postal services across the University. Working both independently and as part of a team, you will support the day-to-day operation of the campus by delivering an efficient service, assisting with University events and ensuring mail, parcels and essential resources are delivered safely, promptly and effectively.
As Facilities Assistant you can expect to be involved in:
- Carrying out removal and delivery activities, providing an effective and efficient service. This will include, but not be limited to, office furniture which may require dismantling and reassembling as requested by the customer. Undertaking collections and deliveries on and off campus using University vehicles
- Supporting University events, including open days, arrivals and departure weekends, delivering, setting up and removing items as required by event organisers
- Operating the University post and despatch function, sorting incoming mail and parcels for delivery across the University, collecting outgoing mail and packages and ensuring they are despatched promptly via mail or courier
- Having responsibility for the despatch area to ensure that the stock of publications is managed effectively and is always sufficient to meet the University’s operational requirements. Providing an efficient despatch service to ensure that requests for hard copy publications from prospective students and external organisations are met within Service Level Statement deadlines
What will you bring to the role?
- Full UK Driving licence
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Customer awareness and the ability to remain calm under pressure and focus on the need to provide a high quality service at all times
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures and safe working practices
