Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is one of Europe’s largest graduate recruitment programmes providing candidates with exciting opportunities to work on key strategic projects. KTP is a leading UK-wide programme that has successfully enabled businesses, for almost 50 years, to improve competitiveness and productivity. KTP projects are based on a partnership between a University and a company or organisation with a recently qualified graduate (the Associate) delivering the project with support from the academic team within the University. For this KTP you will be working with the University of Kent experts in the project area.

 We are seeking a talented and motivated KTP Associate to join the School of Computing at the University of Kent and NicheCom. The KTP Associate will apply deep learning techniques to develop new methods for automated processing of images.

Please note this role is based in Wokingham

 The role will require research and software development skills with knowledge of deep neural networks and computer vision. You must have a problem-solving approach to meeting the overall project deliverables and will be expected to devise work leading to the creation of a working software implementation.

 As a KTP Associate you will : 

  • Meet the objectives of the relevant project work packages according to the direction of the supervisors.
  • Support the research of other team members under the direction of the supervisors.
  • Contribute internal research progress meetings with other supervisors and NicheCom employees.
  • Read literature and share appropriate articles with the team. Regular literature reviews should be undertaken, and the state-of-the-art software tools investigated.
  • Transfer the knowledge and experience gained throughout the KTP project to NicheCom

 To be Successful in the role you will have :

  • A PhD, or close to completion, in statistics/machine learning, computing, or engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent qualification/experience
  • At least a BSc 2:1 in Computing or in a related discipline, or equivalent
  • Experience in conducting literature reviews and determining research methodologies in association with a supervisor
  • Experience in software development (Java and/or Python)
